Adventure is out there! It’s Scout Badge Day at River Legacy! Key Club members discussed with and educated young aspiring scouts on hiking safety, environmental history, the importance of trees, and a lot more!

Ho Ho Ho! It’s time for the holidays! Uplift Summit Key Club facilitated the Reindeer Games and walked alongside floats during the Holiday Lights Parade in Downtown Arlington. The festivities were lively and entertaining. Kiwanis itself showcased its mission with its very own float.

Happy Holidays! Key Club helps out with the Mission Arlington Christmas Store, which provides an opportunity for low-income families to provide gifts for their children. Members helped by restocking shelves, assisting shoppers, and wrapping gifts.

SUMMIT MLK DAY

January 18, 2019
To honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Key Club joined forces with Keep Summit Beautiful for a school-wide campus beautification project. Members and others removed harmful trash from the school’s greenery to protect the environment and promote litter awareness.

RISE AGAINST HUNGER

January 19, 2019
Key Club joins Rise Against Hunger Dallas/Fort Worth to bring an end to all starvation by the year 2030. Members met at the packaging warehouse to label food parcels before their shipment to families in need.

ZEB STRONG JR. MLK DAY

This Martin Luther King Jr. Day Holiday, Key Club signed up for the Zeb Strong Jr. MLK Day of Service. Members renovated homes that were out of code compliance.

Welcome back! Key Club comes back strong with new opportunities, such as ChildFund and the upcoming DCON 2019. Members receive new materials and create "Get Well Soon" cards for one of our beloved faculty.

Thank you Mother Nature! Uplift Summit Key Club teams up with Timberview Key Club to celebrate Earth Day. Members also promoted eco-friendly accessories by reusing materials, such as newspaper and t-shirts.

Key Club volunteers at concessions for the Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta event. With the stormy weather, members were able to make attendees a bit more cozy with their hot chocolate!

A convention full of forums, fancy foods, and fun! Key Club attends the annual DCON convention for the first time where they met old and new clubs and got to know their district. You could say they had the "TIME" of their lives.

To prepare for the upcoming River Legacy Fall Festival, Key Club members come out to repaint all the old railings there. Members got to work and painted the town with their paintbrushes!

Calling all Key Readers! Key Club works with multiple Key Clubs at the semi-annual FFAPL Booksale. While members got to know the other clubs, they helped attendees with their books, sorted, and tallied items.

BOOK IT 5K & MILE FUN RUN

"F-to the I-N-I-S-H! You're almost to the finish!" Key Club members awoke at dawn to help set up the 5K event! As runners made their way to the finish, we cheered them on with "Be Strong, Finish Strong!"

Starting off with a round of "Never Had I Ever," the September DCM was filled with laughs, secrets, and pie! Key Clubbers chatted over snacks while making cards for first-responders. To end the night, some brave members had a pie-eating contest for a prize!

WALK TO END ALZHEIMER'S 2019

Uplift Summit Key Club comes out to help out at the annual Walk to End Alzheimer's event! From playing charades with the mascots, providing free meals to attendees. and cheering on walkers to the very end, members were able to do a variety of things.

In the chilly morning, members come out to set up and cheer on runners at the DFW Undy RunWalk event. To show off our new shirts, members wear the new design at the event and represent ourselves in such an amazing event! The day concluded with happy smiles and new friends!

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK

To share our appreciation to all of our teachers, members made thank you cards at the November meeting. Teachers were overjoyed for the gifts and notes the members made. Along with passing out gifts, it was HOCO week so everyone had wacky outfits to brighten the mood!

What's sweet, savory, and can be bitter? Some nice home-made Boba Tea! To celebrate raising over $400 for Trick-or-Treat UNICEF and club funds, members were awarded Boba Tea made by our very own officers! Members chatted and watched High School Musical to commerorate their hard work before Thanksgiving Break.

Chili, pies, brownies, oh my! Uplift Summit attends the 2019 Kiwanis Chili Day to help out with serving, cleaning, and more! Along with that, members worked with other Key Clubs such as Seguin Key Club in serving chili to all attendees!

It's TURKEY TIME! Members come out to cheer on runner at serve them water at the annual Turkey Trot run! Even though the rain poured and the wind blew, that did not stop Uplift Summit from doing their best in such chilly conditions!

Feel the rush and excitement from the booming stadium as you serve cheesy nachos and chili dogs. Key Club members tested their perseverance in the most busiest of environments. Nevertheless, they were able to make it through the night!

JANUARY MEETING

Other than discussing upcoming events, past memories, and introducing our members to the new decade, members were also able to thank their nurses by creating paper-craft apples for the January C4C Challenge. It was a bit difficult to make 8 identical apple shapes to make it three-dimensional but we were able to fill a basket-full! 

MLK MISSION ARLINGTON DAY OF SERVICE

To commemorate Martin Luther King Jr., members went to Mission Arlington to give back to their community. Members helped with tidying things up from Christmas Store. Not only that, they were able to work with their administration team together to serve their community.

Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr.'s achievements during a time of civil turmoil, the George W. Hawkes library hosts an event filled with performances, moving speeches, and documentary screenings.Members managed the different sections of the event such as the kids zone, film room, and more!

To advocate fitness, well-being, and a healthy and positive attitude in women of all ages and abilities, Jiggle Butt Run allows that! Key Club cheers on runners to make it to the finish line! Despite its name, the run's proceeds all go to SafeHaven of Tarrant County.

Continuing through the week, members were tasked to make a mental health infographic based on their team's chosen topic. For each respective team (Ducks, Shibas, Raccoons, Turtles, Otters, Seals, Foxes), they discussed eating disorders, depression, addiction, anxiety, ADHD, stress, and grief.

To encourage physical wellness as well, members take 2000 steps on the Charity Miles app to donate funds to their respective organizations: World Wildlife Federation, World Food Programme, Sight for Kids, ASPCA, Operation Smiles, St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, Autism Speaks.
